Assistant Caretaker
Initial 2-year Fixed Term Contract
Part Time – 15 hours.
Salary: HC03 SCP03 – SCP04 = £8,705 - £8,842.62
Herefordshire Pupil Referral Service (HPRS) provides education to pupils unable to attend mainstream school for various reasons. The service is currently split over three sites located within Hereford – St David’s Centre (KS4), The Aconbury Centre (KS3) and H3 (Hospital, Home, Hub Teaching Team).
This is an exciting time to join HPRS due to the future growth of the service, with the aim of St. David’s and Aconbury coming together on one site to expand the alternative provision offer for the young people of Herefordshire.
HPRS provides a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment in which young people can grow as responsible, independent and self-confident learners. The service benefits from a supportive Management Committee, an effective Senior Leadership Team and a dynamic team of experienced, committed staff.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Caretaker to work across all three sites as caretaker and support our Site Manager to ensure each site is clean, safe, well-maintained and compliant with relevant legislation.
You will be joining a team which works hard to create a positive and caring community that puts children at the heart of everything we do.
You will need to have:
· Relevant experience of general maintenance repairs and handyperson duties;
· The ability to work and liaise with different people;
· Awareness of Health & Safety issues and responsibilities, including COSHH;
· Excellent time keeping, attention to detail, and the flexibility to work varying hours and across multiple sites;
· General administrative experience such as record keeping to comply with legislation.
· Work on your own initiative.
For an informal discussion and/or to arrange a visit, please contact Melissa Targett, School Business Manager, 01432 274485.
Application forms and further details are available from Hoople. Please note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange an interview.
Closing date: Friday 13th November 2026 at 12.00pm (midday)
Interview Date: w/c 15th November 2026
HPRS is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
